Where I stayed
Leaving the Kookoo's Nest, my backpack doesn't feel as heavy as it did a week ago. I guess carrying that heavy and unwieldy scuba tank but some things in perspective. We catch a ride (in an air conditioned van this time) back to the "city" of Dumaguete. It's time for some Filipino culture! We are staying at Harold's Mansion (Hostel/guesthouse) just outside of town near the university. It is very colorful and Nikki has booked us a nice large room (with a/c) in the back. As we wait for our room to be cleaned I sign onto the internet and send some e-mails to our family.
We explore town on foot, walk by the water on Rizal Blvd, buy small ears of corn from a basket atop a woman's head, and watch the orange moon rise up out of the water.
We walk into an outdoor space serving beer and some not hot food (looks hot because it is in metal containers with lids. But it's not). We sit at a table drinking a couple of delicious San Miguel pilsners. After a while a couple of teenage girls walk by us giggling and waving, we say hello and they start really laughing and come over to us. One girl kisses her finger and touches my nose, then the other girl does the same.
Jon says he is going to use me to turn a profit.....
