We had a nice ride in a lovely car service (thanks mom!) from Long Island to Newark airport.  We got there with plenty of time to spare.  In fact, we were the first ones in line to check in for the flight! We stuffed our backpacks inside duffel bags and checked them.  Thanks to our strategic packing methods both of our bags came in just under the 50lb. weight limit (which meant our carry-ons were quite heavy).

The flight was relatively painless, with 250 free movies to choose from and some good sleep aids.  We flew north, up over the poles, and down over Russia to Hong Kong. We watched the sunset then the sunrise.  We watched a couple movies then saw the sunset again.

Below us was a vast stretch of frozen tundra stretching as far as the eye could see, unbroken save for a few icy rivers breaking the surface into massive tumbling cliffs.

Not a bad way to fly.
