Now that I've finally started earning some money I've been up to a bit more excitement here: this weekend went to two concerts, both with independent Western Australian artists; on Friday night we went to see Sarah Blasko play in Dunsborough, a good enough evening although some of the guys got a little overly drunk, to the point of announcing in the morning that they were giving up drinking forever due to their misbehavior in the evening
The grape-picking has improved since my original entry about it as we've worked at some places where the buckets are smaller and the rates are better and one day I did manage to earn about $115 in 5 hours, which is pretty good! It can get quite hot in the afternoons, and it's dirty, often back-breaking work, not to mention monotonous--at the breaks when I lean back and close my eyes for a rest an image of glowing green grape bunches dances before my eyes--but now that there are more of us out there doing it that know each other, there's chatter to keep us going through the day, taunts of "I'm definitely going to pick more buckets than you today, lazybones" and so on.
The cleaning job is now over as the contract ended so I do get a regular amount of sleep and now with the start of the packing job I'll be getting even more, so things are starting to settle in a pleasant, sunny manner.
