Where I stayed
Wandering_man stayed here in February of this year at the Lina Cottages and thought it was terrific. This stay was good, but there were some disappointments.
The prices have risen and the dollar has weakened, so the room that cost $6.25 in February now costs $10. Readers may scratch their heads and ask how anyone would complain about paying $10 for a cottage on the beach with the beauty seen in these photos, and that would be a fair question.
But Lina has become the victim of its own success. Breakfast of scrambled eggs was good at 25,000 rupiah, but they then gave WM one slice of dry white toast (no butter or jam) and charged an extra 7000 rp
The room had no sink. Ever try to brush your teeth or shave without a sink? There is a mark on the wall and fixtures where the sink used to be.
For whatever reason, there is much more litter washing up on the beach. It is not as bad as Kuta, but it is worse than February.
Despite this, Lina is always full, chiefly because there is no other beachfront budget option in Sengiggi. When returning to Sengiggi, WM is thinking more about staying one night as a transit stop to the Gilis.
Sengiggi has the best Internet outside of Mataram, and is the only place on Lombok that WM has found with massage. Wandering_Woman got a hair spa day yesterday and her hair is very soft to the touch. WW and WM got side by side massages the previous day.
Depart tomorrow for two weeks at Kuta at Hideaway Bungalows to visit Greg, Willie, Nina, Citi, and Indah, WM’s pals from February and March of this year. Internet will be spotty for these two weeks, so postings will be limited.
