Heading out from Granada I made my way to the isla de Ometepe. Situated in Lago de Nicaragua(central Americas largest lake), Ometepe is a set of two volcanic islands that look like something out of a movie. While there I met a Belgian by the name of Bejlic, who was just as a enthusiastic about adventure as I was. The next morning we decided to hike Volcan Conception, the larger of the two volcanoes. After a long 4 hour hike at an incline of what seemed to be like 45 degrees, we finally made it to the top. The view was amazing! From the top you could see all the way back to Granada and a panorama view of the island itself was fascinating. For the next couple of days we stayed at a local finca that used to be owned by the Somoza family before it was seized by the government. A nice tranquil spot it provided a relaxing backdrop for my last days in Nicaragua.
