Easy day planned today. Kids were to be taken from us for the day by Rudi, Kathryn, William & Beatrix to go to the zoo. We fought hard as we would be devastated for them to be taken from us even for a short while. But unfortunately we lost & it was with a sad heart that we handed them over but we got over it quickly and went for a coffee & cake as you do in Munich it seems. Was supposed to go on a Third Reich tour but as it's now classified as the winter season for some tour companies they only have one a day and we missed it. I know the result anyway so no great loss.
Organised a bike tour tomorrow as the sun is expected to make an appearance for a short period of time then went to the Hoffbrauhus Beer Hall, just for a look. Filled with people who all looked like they had settled in for the day. A casual walk around the city at our pace and looking at the things we wanted was a welcome change. Bought beanies & gloves for all as weather still cold & not expected to get any warmer in the distant future.
Off for a café latte in a little café in the backstreets near the fruit/vegetable markets. This café serves the lattes, not that I drink many, with straws. I myself have never seen this before but Alice tells me it is done in all the finer coffee establishments in Europe. During coffee the phone call we were dreading arrived, the kids were on their way back. They had had a great day at the zoo. Picked them up from Marienplatz and said farewell to Rudi & William as Rudi has to travel to San Paulo tomorrow for work.
Another walk around the back streets and we headed for home. Had dinner at a little sushi restaurant around the corner from the flat. Very nice even though I'm not so into Japanese food that much. Off on the bike tour tomorrow so hope the sun is out.
