Neushwanstein Castle

Left Inzell for the trip to Schwangau to see the Neuschwanstein castle.
Set out in mild fog but got worse the further west we went. Add that to the trucks and it made for a fun experience. Road works also banked us up for 10 klm so 3 blokes could clean out the gutters. Lots of road works going on but nobody anywhere near them. In a country where on some roads the speed is unlimited most are restricted to 80. Hit the back streets through the country side, the Romantic Road, but fog got heavier.
Arrived at the guest house around 2:30 & found it to be worst place we have stayed so far. Just so out dated but it was a bed & clean.
Drove the 3 klm to the castle & parked. Couldn't see it due to the fog and amount of Japanese & Chinese tourists. Biggest amount we have seen so far, tourists & fog.
Had to wait 2 hours for the first available English tour so took a horse & buggy ride up to the castle from the ticket centre, around 2 klm. Got the front seats & kids thought it was amusing when the horse passed wind in our faces, which he did often. Travis was crying from laughing so much. The driver, a 70 year old German, could not see the humour in it. As we had time to kill, decided to take a walk to a bridge where you can see the castle from. Big mistake, fog/cloud was getting worse. Could not see anything. See photos. Tour of the castle was good with the tour guide sounding like Martin Short's character in "Father of the Bride". Not that there is anything wrong with that.  Overall the tour was interesting and worth the money.
Left in the dark & fog and stopped at another guesthouse for dinner, as ours was closed
for the season. Another nice meal & few beers.
Off to Munich tomorrow for 8 nights in a flat and handing the car back. Citroen C8. Nice car and went well. Kids loved automatic doors.
Till then.
