We stop for coffee break at Quorn. Looks just like a town in the Karoo. Colesberg?
The same architecture of 1800s - pepper trees, hotel, station. Tin roofs and outside the town - vast expanses of dry country - salt bushes and always on the horizon, the Flinders.
At Kanyaka homestead - ruins of homestead from1850 - 1880. The graveyard interesting. Mostly children or people who died around their late fourties. (we would have been VERY old)!
Lunch at Quorn at a local cafe. We drive towards the Northern Flinders. This is Hans Heysen country. We have to stop every now and then as I compare the scenery with his landscape paintings - thanks to a birthday present from my mother.
Today - 32 years ago Walter and said "I do". We celebrate tonight at Rawnsley Park Station.
