At the border between NSW and South Australia - checkpoint Carlie! Fruit and veg inspection. Walter has to open up for the inspector. Absolutely NO Lettuce, avocados and onions - the fear of fruit flies means they go straight into the bin - not allowed to take them into South Australia!.

Banrock station is a pleasant surprise. Affordable prices - so we stock up! Coffee and cake with a. lovely view, The landscape reminds me of Fred Williams paintings. Vast canvases.

At Cadell we take the ferry across the Murray river. At Morgan Jonathan shows us the vertebrae of a 15 million year old whale fossil.

The road is straight for more than 100 kms. Tonight we sleep under the stars - bush camping in Wilmington, shades of blue around Mount Remarkable in the distance.
