Breakfast with Gerhard and Jennie at our cozy hotel in Eppstein. Blue skies - yoohoo!
Nicki fetches me to drive me to DM - for the Lavera hand cremes and cuticle softener which I can't buy in Australia (promissed a few friends I'll bring a suitcase full back to Australia). A little embarassing moment at the till with queues 5 miles long - "sorry, we don't take mastercard". Luckily my son is standing behind me in the queue, "It's ok - I'll pay for my mum!"

At 12h00 the whole Falk and Schoening family clan goes for a walk at Feldberg. After a short walk through the pine forest we arrive on top where a band of santas are playing drums. Very cozy - but ice cold wind! Walter drools over the parked motor bikes. We drink gluehwein and I see my dream car - a lovely red goggamobile (old - but well preserved)! Perfect for driving to work in style - just 14 km distance - who needs speed?

Just after 4 pm we head over the cobblestones to the church. Service starts at 5 and the whole Eppsteiner community will be there. If you only go to church once a year - this is it! I count more than 200 heads. I love the Christmas carol singing and the 500 year old Organ!

Dinner at Ursis - the girls made dinner (Sausages, potato salad with beer - lovely salad for starters). Onkel Gerhard (number 2) is Santa. We walk back down hill after a lovely heilig Abend. The castle ruins are lit. Great atmosphere. Everybody greets each other with "Frohe Weihnachten!"
