So that was a totally random way to start my story about berlin, but o well. the berlin train station was quite impressive. a complete four stories, with basically a full mall and food court. we took a bus to the general area our hostel was...but had some difficulty finding it. we were walking around with our map like typical lost tourists...kinda looking for the correct person to ask. you know the person you hope speaks english and isn't too rude to you. then out of no where, this lady comes up to us and asks if we need help with directions. nick and i both were very impressed. i said it automatically made germany move to points up on the scale
. then when we got to our hostel, the receptionist was very helpful and informative...another bonus for germany. at this point nick and i were only planning on staying in germany that night, and leaving the next day in the afternoon....but the way things were going we thought we might stay another day. we did a pub crawl here which we had heard was really cool...and it was. a pub crawl is usually some tourist company that goes to all the hostels and rounds up the kids that wanna go to the bars in town. we got home around 3 after meeting a lot of people from pub crawl. it seemed that a lot of kids were doing the same route through europe that we are doing...and i got some numbers of people going to prague and figured we'd meet up. o also kinda random...i met this guy from melbourn austrilia who was a professional rugby player in south france. so we passed out around 330 after the crawl...we knew we'd stay another night in berlin after all the fun we'd had in one day. plus our hostel was only 11 euros per person per night. the cheapest so far.
so our trip from amsterdam to berlin was pretty good. we devised a way to ensure no one would sit next to us...we put our bags on the seats next to us, and, because the train was a regional train, it stopped a lot, and at each stop, we acted as if we were asleep. thus no one wanted to bug us and we had lots of room on the journey.
