so monday evening we were on our way out of paris heading to amsterdam. we had much difficulty finding a hostel in amsterdam for monday night. all the places seemed to be booked and or they wouldn't allow booking online. so we just decided to cruise out there and find a random place...or just stay up all night, or maybe sleep in the station. we left paris around 9, and no sooner had we got on the train, i started talking to the lady across from me. turned out she was from all over theworld. born in iran, but her mother was from france. so she lived in iran till 5, then france till 18, then in her 20s, she moved to LA. she was doing the acting thing in the 1980s in LA...she had some interesting stories to say the least. but now she is an interpreter for NATO. the HQ for NATO is in Brussels, but she travels all over the world. seemed like a really cool job. we all continued talking to her...and she told us if we wanted to come to brussels we would have a place to stay. well brussels wasn't exactly on our list, but we were like heck, we don't ahve a place to stay tonight...belgium has good beer and chocolate, lets do it. it was a lot of fun... . her house was incredible! the 3 story apartment, with high ceilings, and very modern design. large windows, wood floor, and metal all around. anyways...it was really cold the next day so we didn't stay in brussels long. about noon we headed on to amsterdam. amazing the random cool people you meet on trips. o and one more thing...she said Sebastopol was one of her favorite places in the world. just kinda funny :)
