Jorge picked us up in Friday and we drove to Santa Cruz via San Fernando. We pulled up at the Hotel Santa Cruz Plaza and it was magnificent. The Colchagua wine festival was in the plaza right opposite the hotel. When we arrived we unpacked and then went look at the museum that is attached to the Hotel. It had a enormous collection of interesting exhibits on display.Exhibits includes prehistoric time, Chilean history, World war 2, Indian Cultures and even a car display. It was incredibly good, the only problem as that it had no air conditioning and it was like an oven in there.

We went for a swim in the pool and relaxed before going to the Hotel restaurant for a nice dinner and straight to bed at about  1.00am.

On Saturday we got up early, had some breakfast and then went on a tour of  Vina Santa Cruz. The Vineyard was spectacular.  It also had a small exhibition on Chilean indigenous cultures including that of Easter Island. To reach this exhibition we took a cable car up to the top of a hill. Up there they also have a  small observatory when at night you can look through the big telescope. We returned to the winery where they gave us a short tour and finally took us down to the cellar for a tasting of their wines. They wines I must say were pretty ordinary, so I didn't rush and buy any.

On our way back from the Wine tour we stopped for lunch at a beautiful typical Chilean restaurant called Panpan Vinovino. I really did enjoy it here. we had some nice local boutique beers and a glass of wine with lunch.

We returned to the Hotel & Fernanda & I had booked in for a full hours massage. I had the relaxation massage. I must admit I nearly fell asleep on the bench.

We then went across to the plaza to taste some wines. We purchased a glass and 4 tastes, but they gave me 8 in error. The plaza was packed with people and you had to fight your way in for a drink. They don't just give you a taste they seriously fill up your glass.Which would be one of the reasons why the plaza was full of very drunk people.Yours truly was heading down that path, when I went to see a show that was about to commence I watched that for a while. Now because I walked around on my own for an hour or so, everyone thought I was lost. I even had the police looking for me.Anyway I returned to the hotel and  went to the bar. We continued drinking and having little snacks until about 1.30 when we retired for the evening.

We checked out of the Hotel at 12.00pm Sunday and drove back to Santiago  after stopping at a family restaurant for lunch.

We had a very nice time at the Colchagua Wine festival
