That night we went out for dinner at Paulina and Pancho's daughter Coni's house. With her husband Carlos, they cooked us a full menu of Peruvean food. it was lovely, we also had a number of very nice Chilean reds.
We left at about 12.30 am.
Today we got up early and went on a tour of Santiago. We want by bus which allowed us to get off and on at any time we liked.
Our first stop was Cerro Cristobel, where we took the funicular railway up to the top where the statue of Mary overlooks the city
Next stop was the Plaza de Armas. This is the heart of Santiago. Next to the plaza we went into the Metroplitan cathedral. It was beautiful inside..
We were getting hungry, so our next stop was the Mercado Central. This market I have seen on "getaway". It is a wonderful old buildings with lots of different restaurants in the centre with food markets surrounding it. As you walk around you get the beautiful smell of fish and sea food up your nostrils. We had a nice lunch there and I had a seafood soup. It was chock a block full of seafood. I had no chance of ever finishing it.
We were now getting tired and it was about 4.00pm so we went to out last stop, "constitution square". This is where the Moneda Palace is . This is the the presidential palace, presidents have lived there in the past, but not now.
I am now back having a Corona.
Tonight another dinner. Maybe a quiet day tomorrow.
