I woke up early and went for a walk around the hotel grounds. I then came back and had a nice breakfast in the hotel dining room.We all then went into San Pedro. We walked the streets of this fascinating place. We firstly went to the archaeological museum, which was very interesting.Unfortunately the no longer show the mummified bodies out of respect for the indigenous people. I can understand this.San Pedro de Atacama is in the north of Chile not far from where the North of Argentina, Bolivia & Chile meet. It is 2440 above sea level and is a dry dusty place. However they have had rain which has made the roads a mess. We spent a few hours walking the streets and looking at numerous markets.

We then returned to the hotel for a little rest and had a swim at pool.

At 4.00pm  we went on a tour of "Valle de la Luna" Moon Valley. This was an incredible place. You won't believe it however, it started to rain. They have had quite a lot of rain here and what has happened is that the rain has drawn the salt out of the rock, which gives the white appearance. I have been told that this is quite rare, so I guess we are fortunate to see it like this. In this valley there is not one hint of life. Not even a weed. There were some challenging climbs and I am very surprised that no one has ever fallen. If you fall, you don't come back. Well not in one piece any way.

We then made the journey to "Valle de la Muerte" Death Valley. At this time the rain was quite heavy so I took a quick couple of photos and got back into the truck.

We arrived back in San Pedro and went to a restaurant for dinner. We went to Adobe Restaurant.
we started with a Pisco sour and then a some nice red.

We went home a at about 10.30 and went straight to sleep as we have another tour tomorrow and we are being picked up at 6.30am.
