We left Auckland on time and arrived in Santiago on time, however it took over an hour for our luggage to arriive. Santiago airport was packed. I was worried because we had a connecting flight to the north. We made it with 5 minutes to spare. We left Santiago on a flight to Calama via a short stop at La Serena. The flight took us over the Atacama desert and for as far as the eye could see there was no life. We arrived in Calama which is a mining town, not really the place you would choose to holiday at. We hired a van and drove 95 Kim's to
San Pedro. It was an interesting drive through an incredibly dry desert and believe it or not we had a few drops of rain. I knew I would bring the Melbourne weather over here.
We had a quick look around San Pedro but we will spend more time looking around tomorrow.
It is still Saturday,Infact our Saturday will be 38 hours long. I can assure you that I will sleep well tonight.

We are now relaxing in the hotel with a Pisco Sour, which is really hitting the spot.

I will update this post tomorrow and add some photos. I have not yet had a chance to take many.

Our plans for tonight is a few drinks and dinner at the hotel.
