I laugh at the thought that I may have a serious obsession. Nervously laugh that is! It's the same obssession I think you all have and I betcha you can guess what that is.
Thoughts of going here, there and everywhere trample my brain fervently and I still get on happily as days pass by. I am convinced I'm obssessed with....yeah, yeah, an easy guess, traveling, because of this site and many out there like it. I mean, what did people do before the internet!?
Oh, well, read, suuuure, that's a given! Reading will take you to places you've never been, and may never go in actual life anyway. Reading's great and if you've got half an imagination stories of travel will catapult you into the unknown better than anything else. There is one book in particular that began my obsessive complusive need to travel and I blame it all on dear 'ole Dad.
Jonathon Swift was great writer and above anything else he wrote was Gulliver's Travels
He'd read to me before bed. I'd make him go on even when my eyes felt like weights were holding them down and dreams of traveling danced in my young and truly innocent mind. Boy have times changed! Point being, Jonathon Swift is one of the greatest writers and I say that yes, because his writing was great but also because he managed to do this to me. Make me OCD!
From age old books in Jonathon's Swifts days to our days of the world wide web and all the deliciously emphatic web pages filled with accounts from traveler's all over the world.
Put your thoughts and words out there. Tell your own, unique tale and inspire someone! Inspire thousands of people who want to be just like you to kick up their dusty heels and head off on a journey of discovery.
Learn about 50 Basic Travel Words you should learn before taking off to a foreign country.
Or how to properly Measure for a Backpack
Not ready to pack it all up and sell it off in exchange for an endless sojourn? Try housesitting in another country.
Inspiration is another integral part of our lives and it's our job in life to spread inspiration and free thought. Tell it like it is, no holds barred. Sure many of us travel to the same beautiful places but we all have our own one-of-a-kind experiences.
Traveling brings with it an awareness that we might not have had before and those 3 little letters 'www' bring us the tools to do the research to apply that awareness somewhere useful. Sure, many of us travel but what do we offer? Traveling in itself does not make us individual. How do we hold out our hands to new cultures and allow them to gain an understanding about us? I think we're often as fascinating and complex as other cultures are.
"To the world you may be one person
but to one person...
you may be the world"
The Man In Seat 61 gives us great advice and ideas for tranportation.
Clickable maps mean we can look at location anywhere in the world with the flick of a wrist.
Find out about teaching in China from Travelpod's very own Eddakath. I often read his stories from China and have had the notion to head on over and teach myself. Not teach myself, but teach others...oh, you now what I mean! Well, I'd be learning too, because we're always learning about something aren't we? We should only ever stop learning when we're dead. And even then, who knows.....
Print out handy mini-phrase books and maps from Single Serving
Read about one persons ideas about Why We Travel
Check out Matador Travel and get some info for your next trip.
See, those three little letters can get us far and that's just a minutia of what's out there. It's sort of mind-blowing and I'm sure many of you understand how my obsession came to be. If I can't be somewhere in body, I will be there in spirit.
I must get back to obsssesing about my next big adevnture now......
Love to you all out there. :)
