Today is just brilliant. The sun is shining intensely and there's nothing like a sunny day to lift your spirits. February seems to be the month that everyone agrees is the worst up here in the north, but I like it b/c after a depressing stint in January, February brings us the sunshine we all haven't seen in awhile.
Today was my first Saturday morning spent in the new house. I still feel like I'm waking up in a hotel room! It has seemed more normal living like a vagabond this past year and a bit, then to actually have a bedroom to truly call my own. I think I'm more comfortable hopping around. Well, at least the 'hotel room' is nice!
There was a contest through CTV that I was entering hoping to win the grand prize of a 6 night trip to Japan. Just for fun, you know. Well it turns out.....that I won! But not the grand prize. I won tix to a puppet show. weird, I know. The puppet show is called Cabaret U-Mano and has been playing all around the world, currently showing in Toronto. I'm not sure what to make of it! It's all these elaborately created puppets, each with unique identities-one is a transvestite- that perform a cabaret of jazz and blues songs. Getting weirder...I asked Jer if he wanted to go with, but he declined my lovely offer! Go figure. Soo, I've convinced my cousin Barb to go with me.
This afternoon we're heading into Toronto to the Diesel Playhouse (which is supposed to be a cool venue. There's a bar anyway so sounds good) to see the show. I'm more excited to just get out and do something different. A puppet show is pretty different! Singing, dancing puppets. Hmm. Maybe it will be wild. It's played all across Asia, Europe and North America so far and has been getting rave reviews. We'll see....I'm looking forward to a sunny drive into the Big Smoke. It's actually a really nice looking city. I tend to stay away for the most part as there's just too much chaos all around, but once in awhile it's good to go in and check out a gallery, or museum, or show or something. Toronto can be really fun if you're in the mood.
Sooo, will let you know how it all turns out. Barb is going to introduce me to a great restaurant tonight after the show. She's a major Foodie, so tries new places in Toronto all the time. She's there working everyday anyway and goes hunting for new and delicious cuisine regularly.
Puppets, here I come!
