I am writing from Strasbourg, France, meaning the keyboard letters are all over the place, so please forgive any typos!
Some stories from this week, namely, my visit to my "hometown", Lahr! We visited all over Lahr -- we spent all of Tuesday there. First, before even leaving the platform, I took pictures of the Lahr (Schwarzw) sign, haha. I wanted to take lots of pictures and I was very excited! We walked along Schwarzwaldstrasse around the roundabout and straight to our old apartment. We could see the three round buildings from the roundabout. The red, yellow and blue tiles are still there, as Mom described, and I remembered that we were the yellow building, so I took alot of pictures of that one. Also, I took alot of pictures of the park. It seems to be quite the bustling area still!
Anyways, then we went down Freiburgstrasse to Rheinstrasse and tried to find the base, but I couldn't find it. We saw lots of cornfields though! That was pretty disappointing, so we decided to go back Sunday, while in transit from Strasbourg to Mainz, since we have to stop back in Offenburg anyway. Mom has generously sent me some more detailed directions! Then we walked all the way down Dinglinger Hauptstrasse to the old city area. I don't remember which streets we walked down, we might have been by the old Kaserne where all the stores and things for the base used to be, but I didn't know it was there.
Then we ate some lunch in the old city and took some pictures, etc. We walked back all the way down Schwarzwaldstrasse, so I saw the apartment again on the way out. It was really amazing for me!
So now we are in Strasbourg, we got here yesterday morning. The hostel had no rooms so we settled for a cheap hotel (which was very very nice, we were spoiled!) but for tonight and tomorrow we got a room at the hostel, which we just checked in to. We paid for a dorm room at a very cheap rate, but it looks like our "dorm" has only three beds and nobody staying in the third, so we're basically in a double again. The city is very very nice, very old. We seem to like taking ourselves on long walking tours of each city, which we did yesterday and today. It is a gorgeous day today, very hot and sunny!
Anyways, I guess that's about it. On Sunday we are leaving here, going to Lahr, then on to Mainz and the Rhine Valley to Koblenz.
I miss home lots, it's going to be a long time here! But I'm still having lots of fun, don't worry!
Take care!

Was the park across the street from the apartment building still there? And the wooden bench swings? Good times... :)
