Up at 6am - poor porter what a lovely guy - carried my bags up the stairs and down the streets to the reception.  Gave him another tip and said good bye.

Caught taxi to port, Ship left at 8.10am, big ship, find a seat on deck, really sunny day.  Fell asleep for about an hour then woken  by sound system saying we were pulling up at...... for more passengers.  So pretty so decided to stay awake and watch the islands as we sail by.  Made about 5 more stops at various islands picking up extra passengers.  Slow boat to Athens, cheap and comfortable.  Islands like Eros, Sikinos and Folegandros

Arrived in Athens about 6pm - I have normally been a bit better organised - often haven't booked accommodation until we reach somewhere and this was the case in Athens, so where to start.  Thought i would go to an internet cafe probably one nearby, but next thing I knew I was talking to a lovely Aussie girl from Sydney, Anna, and a taxi driver who was telling us that buses and trains were on strike, taxis still working, but tomorrow there would be no public transport, taxis included will be on strike

He wanted to charge us 25 Euro to take us to town - said normally 15 Euro but due to strike he would charge more as no other choices.  Barted with him and got it for 22 Euro - decided to share taxi with Anna to her hotel where I would get on the internet and look for hostel.

Her hotel was right in the middle of town, we got out I put my bags on the footpath and turned to pay the taxi driver - turned back and as I was bending down to pick up my bags a guy was bending down ready to grab my small bag.  OMG thank goodness for luck - as soon as I touched the bag he left.  It happened so quickly I didn't say anything but it really rattled me.  Had he got it, he would have had all my money, passport, cards etc.  Really rattled me.  Pick pockets and bag snatchers huge problem in Greece apparently - economy is really bad.

I decided then that I would stay at this hotel and not bother walking the streets to find somewhere else. Anna had a special internet price - so I asked for the same and they kindly gave me the same cheapish price.  Anna and I checked in and decided to go to a nearby recommended restaurant for dinner.  Cheap - I had Pastitos (Greek lasagna) nice.

Walked back to hotel, Anna had to leave very early next day - strike will still be on so she does not know how she will get to airport.  Private cabs will run but they will charge heaps.  Thankfully for me Saturday will be strike free.

Sleep now, much calmer.  Here is to another fine day tomorrow I hope.

LEON: First up we were shown how to whip up a makeshift studio using a sunlit window with a thin white curtain and did a shoot of one of the models dressed as a bride in front of it. Sorted through those photos and after lunch went to an outdoor beauty spot for a bride & groom shoot along with this mornings bride.
