Ho Ho Ho.
Well the answer to yesterdays quiz - how many Yos will I preface my next entry with ? - is zero! I opted for the Hos instead. Advance Xmas spirit and all that. İf u chose 0 then let me know and a special wadirunner voucher to allow u to run in the wadi behind the Icon Hotel is on its way to u. If u live outside the UAE, then regrettably, ull have to come up with ur own air fare!
Today was a smashing day. After a leisurely stroll of the town centre of Giresun I grabbed a quick bite to eat - obligatory chai and little breads - before heading up to the Kalepark. A very steep 1.5km uphill jaunt to wake TİPO up but it was well worth the effort of getting there as it had turned into a glorious morning with clear blue skies making the black sea look blue and the bays either side of Giresun harbour look like Killiney Bay on a good day or the Bay of Naples on a bad day even. Extensive ruined walls were ideal for strolling along, each turn offering new panoramic vistas. Theres a monument to fallen turkish soldiers up there too. And of course I capped off my sojourn up there with a cup of chai. Tremendous.
Then back along the coast and the next big town - Ordu - had reason to detain us. Another ethnographic musuem housed in a beautifully restored Ottoman house - does any of that sound familar - if anything the costumes and settings of this "konjai" were even better than the one in Rize, though today i didnt have a friendly curator to explain the exhibits and practice her english, but i still got the gist of what was going on. I dont think itd have been too bad living in 1896 Ottaman lifestyle - they had bathrooms, beds, crappers, heating, sofas - all v comfy looking in fact. Not bad, not bad at all. Plus the Ordu one had a v nice back garden with get this - a barbie - Ottaman style of course - there too. I wonder whats the turkish phrase for "Throw some shrimps on the barbie Brucie" Could it be - "%%%%++++ doner kepab *****^^^^^^ Ahmet" ? Who knows.
Then it was another steep uphill trek for TİPO to the Ordu Bozetepe. There was a Bozetepe too in TZ. Both are situated high above the town offering panoramic views all round so Ill go out on a limb here and hazard a guess that Bozetepe is Turkish for high hill???? Anyway this Bozetepe was really nice - after a bit of a walk - İ had a bowl of lentil soup and tea to warm myself up. Then back down and onto the coast rd to Unye stopping for about 20 min at sunset at the promenade of a small coastal town called Fatsa to get some sunset shots of the Black Sea. Ill bet some graffiti artist adds an M at the end every night and every morning the munıcipality comes along and wipes it off!!
So tommorow I hope to drive to Tokkat - whether I stop there for the night or not I cant say. It has a few things worth seeing in its own right but Cappodica is calling... Dont know - Ill make it up as İ go along.
Cheers

Yo Robster
You're going to see Rod Sttewart..%$#&*&*^^...nuff said! Great to see that you're still moving this direction. I'm now spending every spare moment practising for our summer tennis. The match was great last night. Fantastic atmosphere. Team played great and the crowd really got behind them. Of course a home goal after 12 minutes always helps to settle the nerves. I reckon it went so well because it must have been the fewest Dubs ever on an Irish footie team...2...I think. Doyle was great up front and Long, the 20 year old from Tipp also had a stormer when he came on. I think Keano Juniors days as Ireland's number one striker are numbered...if Stan has the balls to drop him. Might try to get out to Bratislava and Prague in September. I'd really have to build up the brownie points for that!!
Take care and keep the foot to the floor.
Jinky.
