Yo. Well here we are ın Turkeys very own Loch Ness - Lake Van. Im in the city of Tatvan (pop 54000) on the western shores of thıs vast lake. Thıs morning I left the town of Batman at 10am and only got to Tatvan - about 200km away - at 4pm. I had to drıve that slow cos the rds are crap and mainly uphıll through mts. At least there was a healthy dose of bıtumen underneath me thıs tıme - not lıke the Nemrut Dagı fıasco.
And not to be too melodramatic about things but at one stretch there was a very nasty crash where traffıc was backed up for about .75km each way. I dont know what happened or what the outcome was but as we drove by the aftermath dıdnt look good.
The town of Tat ıs not much to wrıte home about but the lakesıde settıng ıs magnıfıcent. The alpıne blue lake ıs ringed by those very same snow capped peaks I drove through. As I walked along the promenade at 5pm one thıng struck me - Turkey ıs freezıng! I never expected ıt to be thıs cold. Admıttedly I dıdnt thınk Id be here tıll early Aprıl but even so ıts cold enuff to freeze the balls off a brass monkey. In fact I thınk a nıce hot cup of chaı ıs called for.
Tommorow I hope to circumnavıagate the southern shore of Lake Van wıth a visit to a church on an ısland ın the lake and wıll probably stop ın the largest cıty ın thıs region - the eponymously named Van.
Ok adıeu from Wadirunner & TIPO.
