Yo, finally got out of KSA this morning and into the Hashemight Kingdom of Jordan. Am now in Petra about to do a 2hr night tour. Tommorow at the crack of dawn I'll be back to scope it out by day. I'm getting my Indiana Jones whip ready in preparation. What was Saudi like, I hear you say? For starters, and pardon my french, but it's a f****** big country. A real slog to get through it. My overnighters were a SASCO motel at Salwa, Al Khobar, Hafr Al Bateen, Sakkaka, Tabuk and Halat Al Ammar Border Resthouse. Not exactly nams that trip off the tourist tongue, but a means to an end. Some facts : I did keep a km log per day, and off the top of my head, I'd say I've done about 2,500km since Al Ain. Petrol is dirt cheap, I could fill Tipo for less than 20Dhs, less than half of the UAE cost. I saw 89 goats, 25 camels, 1 bird and 12 women in total. All the restaurants have family sections segregated from the bachelor's section, where I was. And with all 5 of my uncles being bachelors u could say that, it's no great stretch to see me there.
The bad news is that my dream of a 2 week stay in Jordan has been dashed by the export plates that I'm on. I've now got 2 days to get out and get to Syria. And I suspect, it'll probably be like that from here on in, so I could be back home by Paddy's Day. Who knows?

Bad news to Poolies
Hey, not fair! It's like cutting down a 14 round boxing match to just two rounds...and perhaps the same will go for the other poolies' countries/cities.
Glad you made it out of Saudi. Those 12 women, were they birds or camels? hahahaha! So did you get some 'action' off those motels and resthouses?
I miss TIPO, my new neighbor's got a green Mazda and she's a whole lot better looking than you, Rob...hehehehe.

Hi Robert, I do hope that your trip to the rose red city of Petra is a blast ... but not of the dramatic killer variety that Indiana Jones thrived on. Happy travels in the italian mechanical marvel, the tipping tipo. Cheers Luinda
