Not quite. We're currently sitting at the gate waiting to board the plane. Apparently the jetty has broken down, the engineers have decided that it's unsafe and they are looking for the old fashioned type of steps they can wheel up to the door. I quipped that it's like travelling with Ryanair - Marc responded 'WHAT? We're traveling Ryanair air all the way to Australia ???'

This slight wrinkle follows an hour getting through security. In good Heathrow style, the crowds were large and the security channels undermanned. After a long wait, the powers that be decided that I clearly looked the doggy type (no comments please ) and had me empty my well packaged carry on bag. Twenty two chargers, iPods, laptops, cameras and cables galore later I was cleared to repack it all so that we could be on our way. The upside is that the boys got into a good conversation as to what shape plastic explosives can be moulded into.

Well, who'd have thought it, snow in West London at the end of March - isn't it supposed to be Easter next week? It's the Boat Race next weekend so the crappy weather will hold out just until after then. After that it will get better, I promise. Not that I care much - i just checked the apple weather app and its 26 degrees in Sydney. Oh yes!

But for now it's cold out, very cold and they have announced that we have to file out in groups of 10 people to the plane so that nobody slips on the stairs. Mnnn, I suspect this could take some time. How many people on a jumbo ?

Anyway, I'd better sign off and file in line. Thanks mum and dad for taking us to the airport! We WILL text when we arrive.

Attached a photo taken in the earth of Terminal 3 car park.

Now we're cleared to get on the plane.

We're off. Until Sydney !
