Time for some more old friends catch up time. I am staying with my old uni mate Anthony and his girlfriend, Erica in their fabulous condo on the east coast area of Singapore.

Spent some time sorting out the next few weeks of travelling. That is the luxury of staying at someone's house who has a printer and wireless. Free internet. I have been so lucky to have it for a few weeks now!

Have got myself back into the gym, even if it is only for a few days. It feels good to be back however am sweating buckets even though the Aircon was on. Was able to get back into doing proper push ups. Phew, was a bit concerned my body had forgotten how to do them . Then a quick dip in one of the 3 pools to cool off.

First massage in 6 months and god did i need it. The lady said i should have more massages and that my back was really tight. No shit; that is what happens when you sleep in a different bed every 3 nights and have to sleep on buses and trains. We all went for a pedicure to finish off the day and then a trip to the movies to see salt – after battling way through sat night Singapore shopping onslaught.

Sunday was a lazy morning followed by brunch at the Conrad. Lovely. Started with oysters, followed by sashimi, followed by lobster and Cray fish and seared tuna. Yum yum yum. This was all being washed down by some lovely rose brut. Tee hee.  Then i moved on to the lanb shanks, veal, and lamb ribs. Plus a few greens with garlic. Palate was cleaned with some melon and then back for more lamb and veal. Next it was time to hit the desserts. Waffles with maple syrup and vanilla ice cream. Last but not least was the cheese board, of course i took a little of each cheese. It would have been rude not to. Again this was all washed down with brut. 

Anthony, Erica and I rolled our glutinous selves out of the dining room about 3pm as they had stopped serving the alcohol. We ended up on the balcony sharing fine bottle of Margaret River. Yum yum yum.

Seeing as it was possible and we were all hungry after our game of Cranium we ordered McDonald – to be delivered. There are many fabulous things in SP and McDonald delivering is one of them.

Tuesday was the day for me to apply for my China visa. Now considering i have already paid for my china trip – here i am hoping that the Chinese authorities will happily let me into the country. I have no police record,  i not a terrorist so am hoping it will be all ok. As I turn up to the Chinese embassy and go through the security checks a man says to me 'here for a china visa? You need to go here’. At this point i inwardly groan. The consulate website said no such thing as being in a different place than the embassy. It was pissing with rain outside and it was very unlikely that i was going to be getting another cab any time soon, plus. I had no idea where this place was. Was this going to turn into a goose chase.....?  However as if by some good karma luck i stepped outside. It had stopped raining and only after 5 mins a lovely little taxi came along and picked me up! Off I went to the consulate, applied for my visa which was actually quite smooth, left thinking – really, was it that easy? And then crossed my fingers. If i don’t get it by Thursday (in 3 days time) I am not going to Kuala Lumpur. Let’s see what happens.

More seafood was consumed down by the water front. It is crazy in SP because at night when you look out into the sea/bay (whatever it is) you see hundreds of lights. It is like a city out there on the water. It is a city of shipping tankers. Dinner was oat covered crayfish, white pepper crab, drunken prawns and cheesy lobster. Oh yeh baby, bring it on.

I have just had my hair cut. After 6 months. Can you believe it? It must be in terrible condition. Oh well. Went to a place on Erica’s recommendation. Luckily she had warned me beforehand what was about to happen. So i am sat in the chair, you know the one that you sit in to get your hair cut. This girl then starts putting liquid into my hair. Ok, weird. Then she starts washing my hair – dry. Brilliant. I have no idea what this stuff was (and no it was not that hideous dry shampoo we all take to festivals). It was wet but without lots of water. Strange but a great experience.  After i had convinced the hairdresser that i wanted a ’trim’ NOT a ‘fringe’. That could have been a disaster. But instead i had a good hair cut and look like  ‘i just stepped out of a salon’ J

Wednesday I moved house. Said goodbye to Anthony and Erica and their fabulous hospitality and moved over to my new place – Emma and Adams place. Still living the high life in SP, I am. Off for some more fabulous seafood. This time black pepper crab, prawns, fish pate (type thing) in banana leaf – yum. Lots of amazing seafood. Loving it. I was just as impressed by the meal the following day at the east coast hawkers stall – including satay skewers, chicken wings, chilli Cray fish, fired rice, gon-gons (think chewy snails), and lime juice. Seriously if I lived in SP i would be the size of a house with all this fabulous food.

This followed a day of being successful in my china visa application. Phew, Adam taking my to Colebar (great restaurant out of the hustle and bustle of the city) and a quick tour of the botanical gardens. Thanks Adam.

Time to pack up now and off i am due to go to Kuala Lumpur – back on my own and back into hostels. My life of luxury is over.
