I walked up the hill behind Jackīs as advised by Jo but I didnīt find much up there but nice views
! I was back in the hotel by 330. I decided that since we were going to be in the mountains for 4 days that I needed a haircut and was studying my phrasebook out n the landing having a cig when a nice smoking older german guy who speaks Spanish offered to come down with me and tell the barber what I wanted. It was a very nice experience all up - my hair was cut pretty much as I wanted it (sign language as the german guy just gave him an overview then left) and I had vitaiman A cream and a shave as well as a crystal rubbed over the shaved areas (whatīs with that?) And it was less than $2US! Back to the hotel by 4 Mike and I spent the next 2 hous packing for the Inca trail. We are only allowed one day pack and 5kg of stuff in a duffle bag a porter carries for the next 5 days!! Living it rough baby!! My duffle weighed in at 4.5 kg - result!! Of course I put extra in after (to 5, Iīm not mean and they weigh them again anyway!) My day pack is very full though!! We listened to the trail leader (Ruben) in our hotel and felt pretty darn excited!! Day 2 of walking will be a bitch though!! Then there was a big storm in a little teacup over the design of our tour shirt that thankfully I was not a part of but Mike and I were stuck there voting for thingss. We finally got away and ended up at one of the hundreds of restaurants around for two course meal with drink for less than 3US. Weirdly ernough we were chatting about relationships (not really a guy thing is it? But when you share a room with a guy for a while maybe it is) and as Mike was currently single and had seen pictures of Susie sitting on my bed while we packed he asked if she had a sister! Back to hotel by 9 and played a game of chess (with rum of course) - Mike led but I pulled it back at the end! Bed 1130.
Mike got in around 430. I was up at 9 and organised a few things and then called Susie. There was a walking tour with (leader) Jo at 1000 which finished up at 1100 at a lovely coffeehouse run by an Australian called Jacks where i had a huge breakfast with super fresh ingredients (if I ever find those sweet tomatos again I will be a very happy man) before everybody split off to do their own thing. I call today housekeeping day because itīs time to buy anything you havenīt got for the trek and decide what you are taking. I updated the blog and e-mails 1st then bought a alpacha hat and a water carrier. Dropped them and my backpack off at the hotel and went more wandering`shopping. I pic ked up batteries and gloves but I could not find sunglasses that I was happy with! I got very excited by the discovery of the perfect gift for Susie for Christmas (whether or not she gets it by then I canīt be sure due to the mail here but it will be on itīs way at least!!)
