You might think that a chilly Sunday in mid Nov would be a quiet time to see the king's palace. I guess it is but even this early, I am on tour 5 of the morning. There was a drunk driver accident with a power pole that means the stores & hotel here had a power surge overnite. They closed one exhibit but all the rest are open for our enjoyment, whew.
The mansion started out as a doctor's residence paying tribute to his mother, Grace, who gave him a good start in life. Elvis liked the name, so it stayed. The early video footage of the family and his daughter's commentaries were pretty charming. And, in spite of everything, the jumpsuits exhibited were very enjoyable. Also, who knew he was a racquetball fan? His court has been turned into another display of jumpsuits, in case you miss the larger one across the street.
The auto museum was a lot of fun too. Esp. the story that he charmed the dealer out of the Stutz Frank Sinatra may have ordered (the first one to make it to the US). And who wouldn't love the pink Cadillac?
