OK this is my tour bus day and it is all in torrential downpours. Citywide tour and Muir Woods. Lots of cool info and the Bridge had lots of mist obscuring the tops of the columns. Very romantic. Everytime the bus stopped, the heavens opened more. By the 3rd time I didn't bother getting off.
The Woods were spectacular, I have looked forward to seeing redwoods ever since I heard about them as a little girl. They were everything and more. Sadly the rain did not add atmosphere, it was just horribly wet and hard to get around comfortably with a camera. The stop afterward in Sausalito was a big nothing since none of us believed it could possibly rain harder, but it did. The roads have not drained well. It looks like a river on many streets and the driver pointed out the caving away of sections of the road on the Muir Woods run - very disturbing when you look over the cliffs. There was a lot of gunk on the roads too. Cars were abandoned on the roadways after drowning their batteries/wires in the deep water. So glad I was not planning on riding the city.
