I have always loved this day and realize that this would be the city to celebrate Halloween in the USA. Saw so many people walking to work in full costume. Doormen as pirates. In fact pirates were very popular. It rained but not so badly that I couldn't enjoy my short city tour - got dropped at Union Sq and walked around for an hour and then waited and lunched in Macy's for another hour until the next bus would take me back to Fisherman's Wharf.
The Cheesecake Factory on the top of Macy's was a great lunch spot and the dessert afterward at Ghirardelli's Sq was the perfect topper.
