The ride from St George was punctuated with some road repairs slowing things down. But the scenery made up for it, cutting thru mesas going up and down elevations 2000 to 4000 and above, and then the Mojave Desert with Joshua trees (a tree-like form of yucca), scrub grasses and little else. Mountains were layered in mist in the distance.
I had been thinking of pushing on to Bakersfield, but then the desire to slow down again and enjoy the ride took over and I stopped. Sadly the Motel 6's do not have artwork; but like the one in St. Geo this one had a pool and while I was flushed and ready for a plunge, it was surprisingly cold and I made it to 3/4 submersion and then just laid out on the lounger feeling content.
A bit of a walk to the library for this entry (that's right, another disappointment with Sprint). Tomorrow I hope to be closer to the coast and fabled Rte 1. YAY!
