On the road from Bedford thru to St. Louis and Eureka, I stopped for dinner at Salem, IL at the Village Garden. A simple turkey, dressing and mashed potatoes with a starter of chicken and veg soup. The soup was delish and I was anticipating an early Thanksgiving style dinner plate when a soup of white gravy arrived. Carefully concealed was the entree.
Do you like food with your gravy? No, I like a dollup of the pasty stuff to one side where I can decide how much and when, this stuff was inches thick and not that wonderful. I scraped until I hit paydirt and tried to enjoy the food.
