Connecticut and NJ were subdued in their fall colors. I didn't stop except for gas and the Liberty Diner where a patient and well-trained dog waited in the sidecar for his young family. Despite the cooings and pats of passersby and diners, the dog stayed stoically.
And of course after using the gps and arriving at a blank crossroads, I was lucky to see some folks who could put on track to the motel (just up the street a half mile), gotta love technology. And you think you're pretty safe with an actual street address for these things.
The motel was beside a pancake house and a gas stn so that was great even if the demolished lot across the street didn't instill a lot of confidence. The manager did offer to have me store the bike right out front under the awning where he could keep an eye on it... again, what kind of neighborhood is this? But in looking around, I decided it really looked just fine so it stayed near the door to the upstairs level (of course, no one likes to give you a 1st floor when they can chuckle at you hauling gear up). Nah, that's just paranoia.
But I got a good night's sleep and no residual muscle cramps when I got up and did some qi gung next AM.
