Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Feels weird that it is Thanksgiving as it doesn't really feel like it is October here in New Zealand. In the last week we have had some crazy weather where it has alternated between sunny and torrential rain every 30 minutes or so. Apparently it is very unseasonal and most people are grumbling about it. We just happy that it keep getting warmer rather then colder!
Had a pretty quiet weekend here in Matamata. Fred had to work and Saturday was not too busy. Sunday however Fred's luck proved to be not as good and he worked most of the day. He even had to (gasp) put an IV in!!! Not to worry he managed it one his first go even though he hadn't started one in 5 years. The baby he almost had to catch was also not very welcome, but fortunately another doctor was available to come in and help out!
We celebrated Thanksgiving by having our own little "Sunday roast" dinner cooked by Emma! However no pumpkin pie here just sticky toffee pudding with custard- yum.
This is our last week in Matamata. Tommorow we are going to go and find some caves that have glow worms in them as Fred has the afternoon off and later in the week Emma is going to volunteer on a local dairy farm.
While Matamata has been good to us we are looking forward to our next locum in the more tropical north!

Interesting
Glow worms!! I didn't know that it is for real... Sooo neat! My idea of a glow worm is the soft stuffy with a light - more like a modified flashligt made by Playskool and you get it from a toy store.

Glowworms!
I too (like M) am very impressed by the idea of glow worms. I want pictures (even if they don't live up to my expectations. Happy Thanksgiving!
