Hi All,

Hope everyone is well,

Arrived in Aukland yesterday-just a smaller version of London really, does not feel like NZ, will explore in the next few days. Those outside Aukland call the residents of the city JAFA's : Just Another F***ing Auklander. there are ver a million of them.

Just a quick summary of our woulwind tour of the North Island.

Tongariro Cross- went on this 8 1/2 hour walk up a mountain which was next to Mount Doom from Lord of the Rings. It was so cold windy and snowy for the 1st few hours- i really dont know how Frodo and co managed to keep on their feet in those conditions let alone deiver the ring. I certainly didn't and barry feel of a bridge albeit a small one! THe views were amazing from the sumit . On the way down the mountain it was a completely different world-nice green sunny forest with no snow:best walk i have been on..even better than walking up to Brent Street!

Talpo-Went sky Diving from 12,000 ft. Compared to the bungee it was really easy jumping out the plane mainly because ur jumping out with someone. The 45 seconds freefall was indescribable (is that a word, cant be bothered for the spell check?), when the parashoot opened my instructor asked how it feel . I said ' I feel sick' HE wasn'tvery happy with that, was such a clear day could pretty much see from west to east coast! My ears popped like a hundred times , and took a few days for them to recover: I still pretend i cant hear the crew asking me for petrol money! Oh yeah and i hired a personal camera man to film the jump, so the DVD is quite cool-but his camera malfunctioned so i didnt get me pics-it only happens 1 in 1000 odd jumps- unlucky hey-at least the parashoots didnt mess up i suppose.

Rotorua- After us all accusing eachother of letting off terrible farts we realised that this town stunk of rotten eggs due to it being a bit volcanic - in between 2 earth plates and interacting with Sulphur or something. Anyway this meant we saw these expodable geysers, loads of mud pools, the craters of the moon (we didn't really go to the moon they just looked like the craters from it). Also loads of natural hot springs were generated. We went in one and thought it would be a great idea to have a few cheeky beers in these Spa's. As we left we saw these 2 Maori's get in with a 24 pack of beers, Stero system, dancing to the music. It was R and B unfortunately. I was gonna ask if they had any dance tunes but as they were both like 8 foot and 25 stone i thought it best to keep quiet just in case they took offense.

Ti Kuiti- stayed with more cousins and finally worked out how i was realated. I think they thought i was making it all up!

Waitamo Caves: really good value for money: went absailing down into caves, rock climbed back up them, blackwater rafting in these dingys in the pitch black ..well the only light was from these glow worms: i cheekily nicked a few to use them as glow stick for clubbing in Aukland..not really.

I am keep safe..apart from when Barry occasionaly decides to go the wrong way down a dual carriage way-now that was much more scary than bungee jumping and the sky diving put together!

I am in 2 minds wheather to extend my stay in NZ to explore North of Aukland...
