Finally we start our safari. We have 13 people on our tour. Australians, NZ, English, Canadian.
We are told at our pre-departure meeting to pack overnight bags at the first 3 days were to be spent in a pre-erected tented camp. This was a great surprise, it also meant that all our meals would be cooked for us aswell. We set off on our long drive around 8.30am. I don't think we will ever complain about Sydney roads ever again, as nothing can compare the roads through Kenya, although I will probably say Tanzania is worse in a later entry.
We arrive at our camp around 2.30. we have until 4pm until our first game drive. I am sick with a head and stomach ache and try to get over it for our first game drive. I didn't make it. Anthony had to go on his own. I slept. I should describe our tent, it is the type you see in the movies with wooden beds, a small table and mirror, it even has en ensuite, flushing toilet and hot water, all in the middle of no where.
Anthony gets back from the first game drive after dark. They have already seen a cheetah - and he got a magic shot of it too. They also watched a pride of lions setting up for a kill of a wildabeast, but had to leave before the pack closed. I eat a little for dinner and crash into bed again.
