Ok, so one more message before we go, since I'm here checking my mail anyway. Turns out that the ubiquitous fuegos artificiales (fireworks) that everyone sets off in the streets here are more than just annoying - they are now being blamed for the huge nightclub fire last night that killed up to 200 people. It seems like all we've been watching on BBC world is disaster coverage...what a Christmas...
We are leaving this afternoon, so only a few hours of touristing before we're off. We'll post some of our photos to match the entries once we're back and have them downloaded / scanned. I believe that Chile was actually my favourite part of this trip, but perhaps if we'd had more time in Argentina, we would have done some more outdoorsy things as we did in Chile and seen more than just the cities. Coming from Chile, everyone kept telling us that Argentina was much cheaper, the food much better and the people much friendlier. Check, check and no check: The people in Chile were the friendliest I've ever met - even the cops and border guards would stop for a smile and a (fractured Spanish) chat. If it weren't so far to fly, I would expect a lot more tourists from Canada to start coming.
Well, we're off to see the Museo de Bellas Artes. See you all soon,
love Vicki and Bruce
