This was probably the most enjoyable and relaxing place we went too in India! We like it so much that we ended up staying a whole week! I needed some recovery time after Jodphur and my first Dehli Belly episode! Udiapur is the "World Famous" backdrop for the Bond film Octopussy which happens to screen in every second restaurant every night at 7pm. We found a fab guesthouse called the Dream Heven Guest House which was in a prime spot overlooking the city palace, the water palace and the lake. As it happens, all guesthouses claim to have the best views over the lake but this one was right! It had a great dining area all open to the sunshine. A prime spot for a lazy afternoon beer, to watch the ladies washing clothes in the lake, boys playing cricket on the road and listening to the sweet sound of horns, cows, people yelling and that funny Indian music.

Udiapur is rumored to be the most romantic city in Rajasthan and we timed it right as it was right in the middle of 'Wedding Season' while we were there. From our prime pozzie at the guesthouse we watched the most amazing, colourful, noisy wedding processions. We had never seen a wedding like it (and the parade is just the beginning of the wedding when the groom, friends and family make there way through town to the brides house) - Huge parades of people all dressed in there traditional colourful glad-rags with marching bands, dressed up horses and fireworks!
