Show trip route
One of the really cool things about this fest is that it is everywhere all at once. You can wander around any of the streets in Edinburgh right now and find entertainment. On my quest to the Royal Mile I passed a group of women singing in front of a statue, so I sat down to listen until they were finished performing
I had bought tickets earlier in the day for a show, so started heading in that direction just as it started to rain. I wandered in and out of shops as I could to stay dry, didn't have my umbrealla along (lesson learned), picked up some dinner, and went back home to change into dry clothes and get my umbrella. The show was right across the street and the timing worked out perfect.
The show: unbelievable. Go to http://www.nofitstate.com/shows/immortal2/ to read about it and see pics. It's like nothing I have ever experienced. There aren't seats, you are actually in the middle of the performance. There are people everywhere running about, bouncing about, on skates, on stilts, on trapeze, on a tight rope, playing accordian... you hardly know where to watch half the time. As the focus of the show moves about, so do you. It's like being in the middle of Cirque du Soleil. And the music, oh the music! Reminded me of, well, I don't know really. I think the Dresden Dolls would love this show. The music was, well, burlesque, cabaret, I don't know, but it was perfect for the atmosphere. Seriously, check out the website, and look at all the pages because they all have different pics on them
After the show I came home and went to bed, and now I am up at a somewhat decent hour ready for more adventures. Not sure where today will take me. There is half price ticket booth that sells tickets for same day shows, so I think I will check that out and see if anything looks interesting. I'll probably end up at the Royal Mile again, too. We'll see where the Festival takes me!
Oh yes, on a sidenote, I have been receiving inquiries about pictures, so here's the story. As you know, for a while I didn't have a way to charge my camera battery, so I was limited as to how much I could use my camera. That wasn't really holding me back, though, because I could have bought, in fact did buy, a disposable one. I now have an adapter so my battery is fully charged and ready to go. But the thing is, I haven't really been drawn to take pics. After just one week in Ireland last year I had over 400 pics. Now, after a week and a half, I have maybe 10. I have thought about taking pics, but just plain didn't feel like it. It didn't feel right. Not that it felt wrong, but like I said, I just haven't felt drawn to it. I will be getting out and seeing some sure to be amazing scenery soon, so will probably start taking more pics, we'll see. So, why aren't these 10 pics on the website? Good question. In order to get them onto the site, I have to find a place that will put them on CD from my memory card, then I have to upload them to the site, and write little descriptions. Hasn't seemed worth it for just a few pics. I promise I'll get the pics up, but it might have to wait till I'm back home. Sorry for the disappointment. But then, this trip is all about me, right? ; )
