According to Jim Carroll, "That which does not kill you makes you sleep until 2 the next afternoon." After a very late start, we took a ferry to Miyajima, an island neat Hiroshima, in time for sunset. There is a famous "floating torii" there that is one of the most photographed sites in Japan. I think my photo actually does it justice. The island is full of very tame deer that are everywhere and let you pet them. There is also a 5 story pagoda and excellent kaki (oysters). Then it was back to Hiroshima for shabu-shabu and them a return trip to Mac for beers. Not quite as late a night this time, though. I was back at the hotel by 3 AM. We are not exactly sure when Rob made it in.
