Bruges, more history than you can imagine

Bruges welcomes you every time again

Bruges is a city that never really changed in appearance since the medieval year of 1302 the year of the in Bruges very famous "De Guldensporenslag". When you are walking through the small walking streets in Bruges you breath and relive the middle ages over and over again. You wouldn't even look surprised if a few knights in shining armor would suddenly appear from just around the corner. Every person who loves the Middle Ages should go and visit Bruges. Bruges is a city who actually defiade the hught empire of France many times and one of the biggest victories against the armies of France was the famous Guldensporenslag in 1302 when Bruges won a heroic battle in Flanders fields against the far superior forces and mounted knights of the French. Although the victory was only a short relief, not even three years later the French olbliviated the army of Bruges, the statue on the Grand Place of 'Jan Breidel' and 'Pieter de Coninck' in the shadows of the magnificent belfry still remind of these heroic times.

If you ever plan to visit the city of Bruges one should spend as much nights in Bruges as possible in the Bruges hotels. The great and hugh variety of hotels in bruges is inbelievable. Some hotels Bruges are even located in the very old medieval houses, for example in the hotel Relais Bourgondisch Cruyse you can truly sleep like a medieval prince or princess. Bruges is a city that lives during every season. Many European cities are not that fun to visit during wintertime but Bruges is an absoluty beatiful to visit when it is cold. During the christmas period Bruges is an absolute must-see, the magnificent decorations and Christmas lights bring Bruges alive a way you never saw before. If you are lucky and there is a strong cold winter in Belgium you might even be one of the lucky people to walk on the Bruges Canals. This will allow you to explore the city a whole other way. Too bad that this certainly doesn't happen every year. There are a few hotels in Brugge located along thes canals and are the crème the la crème in Bruges.

Sleep like a prince or princess

Bruges offer more than other Belgian Cities like Brussels or Antwerp a lot of very romantic luxury hotels Bruges. Most of these romantic de luxe hotels in Brugge are not that cheap but they are most certainly worth to stay in.

Sleep as monk but comfortable

If you are unable to pay for one of the de luxe hotels Brugge, you can always find a few hotels in Bruges which are absolutely inexpensive. Those budget hotels in Bruges haved to be looked for but are certainly worth the money. As Bruges is a very touristic city and there are too few hotels in Brugge, it results that there are many budget hotels in Brugge of excellent quality.

A few examples
Hotel Notre Dame in Bruges is one of the only 1 star hotels in Bruges and is located in the historic city centre. This hotel would, when you enter it not seem like a 1 star hotel in Bruges because it is almost always full booked and thus has an excellent management. This hotel is certainly worth the money and is good choice as a budget hotel in Brugge.

Hotel Asiris in Bruges is a 2 star hotel in Bruges with an excellent reputation. Ideally situated and priced for the backpakkers amongst us. The hotel is situated at a 10 minute walk of the Main Market Square and the walk takes you through the beautiful surroundings of the curling alleys and will show you a part of Bruges where the normal visitor never would come.

Bruges has always had an exceptional attraction to tourists. This city is perhaps the best maintened city in Europe. Everything in this city is clean and tidy and is waiting for your arrival. Dining in Bruges is most certainly also without any problems. There are numerous restaurants where it is more than delightful to have your lunch or dinner Bruges.
