The flight from Auckland to Queenstown was just short of 2 hours and once we reached the south island the view was simply spectacular. It felt like we were flying over the movie set of Lord of the Rings with many of the jaggered peaks covered in snow and turquoise blue lakes below.
 
Queenstown is surrounded by tall mountains and is set on Lake Wakatipu and our guesthouse is apparently a short 12 minute walk from town. We have a great room overlooking the lake and mountains and it looks like the weather for the next 4 days is going to be great.
 
We're off to explore the town and stock-up on some supplies for the next few days.

Nice to see the pics of the mountains.I am sure you will see some spectacular scenery on this leg of your trip.Hope oneday we will get there as well.Keep writing
