Cairns at last

The drive from Townsville to Cairns much easier than expected with only and occasional cloud burst every now and then. We even had enough time to veer off the main highway to a little town called Mission Beach to see if we could spot a bird called a Cassowary. It's similar to a emu but more colourful. Unfortunately the elusive bird didn't appear and we were soon back on the main road again.
As we got closer to Cairns the heavens started opening until we could barely see out of the windscreen, apparently the forecast is that the rain will hang around for a couple more days.
Tomorrow we set off for a two day sailing and diving trip and I am hoping the worst of the bad weather disappears and we don't end up getting washed up on a reef. If there is another entry after this it means all went well! Hold thumbs...
