It all started as a crazy idea! One night in early March, while waiting for Inge-Marie to get ready for a Dow dinner with friends on the Dubai creek I started watching the travel Channel. A show was on about a guy called the 'Thirsty Traveler' who gets paid to travel around the world and sample all sorts of beverages. Why can't we do this? Just pack up and travel world? The seed was planted.

During this same period we had been planning to buy a property in Dubai so we could get settled and start a family. Unfortunately the property market in Dubai had other plans for us as property  prices were increasing daily with the apparent supply and demand problems, and by the time we had saved enough for a down payment the property we had our eye one was already out of our price bracket. Aaarrggghhhhh! This led to much frustration and many sleepless nights pondering over what to do and if it would be worth spending a fortune on a tiny property.

So while walking down to the creek, after being inspired by the Thirsty Traveler I turned to Inge-Marie and said 'why dont we just forget about buying property in Dubai and pack our bags and go traveling for 3 months?' Inge-Marie was silent for a while and the said '..$%&*....'. So we decided that for the rest of the 20 minute walk down to the creek we would list all the reason why we should do a trip like this rather than the reasons we shouldn't. And that on the way home we'd discuss all the reasons why we shouldn't do a trip like this.

Needless to say we could not think of any real reasons not to go on a trip around the world.

Very soon our idea expanded from 3 months to 6 months but then again if your going for 6 months you might as well do it properly and go for nine months but to really get around the world you would at least need 12 months. This was becoming more and more real, there was nothing stopping us and everyone we told about the idea were all for it and were excited about the opportunity.

So let the planning begin.......

Thailand.
Sawadeekrup, greeting from Chiangrai, Thailand. Your traveling would be the envy to most of us. Is Thailand included in your itinerary?

Re: Thailand.
Thank you for your comment - yes, we are very fortunate!

We'll be entering into Thailand from Malaysia in about 5 days time and hope to spend about 2.5 weeks there travelling up to the North.

Kind Regards

Why Not Visit Oman!
Greetings from 8thbooking.com

Next time you make it to the gulf region, why not visit the Sultanate of Oman, and enjoy a coastline that stretches so long, with beautiful places to visit like traditional souqs and forts of Omani history.
You can also take week long tours on the Arabian desert in 4x4 vehicles and enjoy extreme adventures.
You must come and see this beautiful land.....
