Today we check out of our condo and returned the rental car. Since we couldn't check into the tour hotel until later we decided to go to Robbin island where Nelson Mandella was held for 14 years. The tour was well worth it as it was done by ex-political prisoners who were held there so the stories they had were pretty incredible. Tonight we check into the hotel and had a meeting with the tour group. There is 21 people on this leg of the tour to Windhoek with a driver and cook who are our guides. Not much planned for tonight as we leave early in the morning. Tomorrow we head up the west coast to the Namibian border. Not sure how accessible internet is going to be.

We finally made it up table mountain yesterday. The weather was perfect, no clouds in the sky and only a very light breeze and hot. I ended up getting a little sunburned as a result but not too bad. We hike around on top for a few hours admiring the views of the city and had lunch. After lunch we did the abseil (repelling) down the side of the mountain. It was awesome!!!! Your feet are on the rock face and then half way down there is a ledge and the rock disappears. You end up going down the rest of the 107m decent just hanging in your harness. We have some really good pictures. After table mountain we went to Stellenbosch, in the heart of wine country and hometown of one Hendri Vorster. We ended up getting there later in the afternoon so most of the wine estates were closed but we did end up finding one with a restaurant where we had a 5 star meal at a 3 star price. The highlight for sure was the desert where I ordered the "surprise". It turned out to be deep fried ice cream. It was like a doughnut with an ice cream centre.
