After a trip through the night, we arrived in São Paulo exhausted. The journey only took 6 hours but setting off at 11.30pm meant that we arrived at 5.30am and unable to check into our hostel until 12pm! Once we had and had a few hours sleep we set off to explore the local area around our hostel. The hostel was called Vila Madalena and was located in the Vila Madalena suberb of São Paulo. We weren´t expecting much from São Paulo as loads of people we´d spoken to told us it wasn´t up to much. However, we were plesently surprised with the Vila Madalena area which was considred the bohemian area of the city. There were lots of lovely cafes and restaurants, boutique, retro and independent shops and lots of art gallaries. We enjoyed looking around the gallaries and looking at the street art which was amazing and in abundance.

That evening we went out and had pizza. There is a big Italian population in São Paulo and it is famed for its pizza, claiming to be better than what you would find in Italy. The pizza was beautiful, in our opinion matched anything we´d had in Italy!

The next day we left the Vila Madalena area and went into the centre of São Paulo. This wasn´t really anything to write home about and was pretty much a business district with lots of high rises and cars.

Quick stop off in São Paulo done and we were ready to set off for our next stop, Foz do Iguaçu or Iguazu Falls!
