The drive was nice and relatively fast.
Every time we get to a new place we have to already have a reservation or pretend like you have one because the minute you get off the bus/boat they are ready to offer you a room, transport, marijuana, etc
. We had a couple places in mind so we started walking (saying no thank you every 2 seconds). We were making our way to the one hotel but on the way we got an offer at a recommended place super cheap ($8 a night) so we took it. After picking our room, we realized that the door did not lock…so we switched to another one that was not as good aka we decided to sleep on the sleeping bags cause it was a bit questionable (we have come to realize that we have pretty high standards, oh what America does to you!). Also, the toilet doesn’t flush so you pour water in it until all the stuff has gone down and most of the time the toilet paper does not want to go down (it could be a lot worse).
So of course Travis makes a contraption to lock the window (see picture), then we went out to get some lunch and explore. The entire port town can be walked in about 5 minutes and it’s pretty cool because all the trade between Bali and Lombok goes out through here so the HUGE ferries leave like every hour. We also checked out Blue Lagoon which is supposed to have good snorkeling, the water was so beautiful! We decided we would give it a try when we come back to Padangbai after Lombok.
That night we ate at a very cheap warung and treated ourselves with a banana pancake (not like American pancake) with ice cream on top. Oh it tasted like heaven!
We woke up to another beautiful morning in Ubud and enjoyed our yummy banana pancakes and fruit (this is what they serve everywhere). Oh and by the way this whole time we were pretending to be Venezuelan it was so funny when Travis tried to pretend to speak Spanish (pretty much every word he knows in a random non-sense order). Travis gets to choose where we are from depending on the situation (it started because we wanted a cheap taxi but since we ended up staying with the driver's family we had to play along with it). Then, we got all packed up to walk to the bus station and go to Padangbai, the port town to go to Lombok (another Indonesian island).
