Sabbath Services are at 11:00 in Durban.  The weather is uncharacteristically cool.  We've been here after the Feast and it's been hot. Not today.
The congregation is about 65 people.  What a warm and friendly group of people. We were again surprised to know so many people from past visits.  But, we had never come to Durban for Church services.  We recognized Mark and Babette Naudee, Neville Smith, of course, Andree Coetzee and others.
Andre van Belkum is one of the kindest people I know.  But, when he gave his report about his Feast in Zimbabwe he became impassioned and indignant about how the government has no regard for the people and how the population is being oppressed....and now it's short on food.  Yet, the people were able to get together for the Feast of Tabernacles and rejoice before God. I had never seen Andre speak that way before.  I really appreciated his report.
Thenk I gave the sermon about the wonders of God's Law.  After I sat down I felt good.  This was the first message in twelve on this trip without consecutive broken up translation.  It felt so good to be able to speak in one stream instead of start and stop.
After services we had potluck...really great.  There are a number of Indian brethren in the congregation so there were some tasty Indian dishes. There were a number of people in the congregation who had vivid memories of British colonial times and lived in what is now Zambia. We heard some very interesting stories about life back in "Northern Rhodesia."
In the evening we went back to the van Belkum's.  Neville Smith came over, too, and we just had a great time talking and socializing.  We talked about expansion of some LifeNets projects in both this country and Zimbabwe.  One was for goat-raising, more scholarships, habitat and water.  Tomorrow we will have a formal LifeNets trustee meetings and discuss these further.
