We decided to change the meeting of our Sabbath meeting to 11 am at Johnnie's Apartment.   It will not be all the people from yesterday that included the Latvian's. It will be four Estonians plus the four of us.   It's been a restful Sabbath and we look forward to being with Helga, Katrin, Andrus and Toomas.  Toomas will translate the messages from English into Estonian.
11 am comes and we see a taxi arrive with Britt Taylor, Jim Franks and Toomas Schvaak.  Then Helga arrives.  Andrus comes in by  bicycle and finally Katrin.  Helgi Luts could not come.  She has been fighting stomach cancer for more than two years now and is in the midst of yet another round of chemotherapy. She has lost a lot of weight, but is determined to survive.  It was good to see her and talk to her.  She has really appreciated the cards and well-wishes that have come from all over.  Her address is
Helgi Luts, Anne 30-87, Tartu, Estonia
for anyone who would like to write to her.  I have been posting progress reports about her on my prayer page at
Two messages are given today.  The first is by Britt Taylor about the Importance of Prayer.  The second one was by Jim Franks was about being a light in your community.
Britt's message was useful in that he clearly explained prayer from scripture well and made it practical.  The people here see and communicate with us in the ministry from the United States so little through the year.  They do not have to feel alone because they have God the Father to talk to anytime they want.  The message engendered some very good questions from Andrus and accounts of how prayer has been valuable by Helga.  Andrus commented to us that this was the best sermon he ever heard!
Jim Franks message was relevant, too, as it encouraged them to be examples, ever so small as part of this society, of a way of life.
After our meeting we all walked to the Shakespeare Restaurant at the Theater about one mile away.  We got a cab for Helga and Katrin went with her.
We had an enjoyable meal sharing thoughts and stories.  The weather was perfect.  Toomas had to get a bus back to Tallinn at 4:15 pm.  Helga's daughter-in-law picked her up.  Katrin and Andrus went on their way.  Katrin and Andrus will come by to visit with us on Tuesday.
We relaxed a few hours and then  Bev, Britt, Jim and I went out about the town.  There is a summer fair called Tartu Hansapäevad that runs from Friday through Sunday.  The city square around the Court House is jam packed with people.  A folk band is playing and comments from our visitors is that the music sounds a bit country western with a polka overtones.  (Or is it the other way around?).  People were dancing, the outdoor cafe's were full.  We could not find a place to sit down.  Finally, we went to our old standby the Wilde Restaurant and found a place to have dinner outside.  Food was tasty and company great.
Then we walked around some more.  It was going on 11:30 PM when Britt and Jim went to the hotel and we went back to the apartment.  There is still twilight during these long days and white nights that people enjoy taking advantage of to be about and around town.

Stefin Saxin
I know this isn't relevant to the Estonians, however it is to the orphan project in Vinogradov.
I was at Sabbath services in Columbus,Ohio yesterday and Mr. Stiver mentioned about Stefin will be doing a presentation about his experiences in the Vinogradov school for orphans. Mr. Stiver mentioned that he was at Bricketwood the same time Stefin's father was there.
