In the afternoon we held a LifeNets board meeting. Present were Elifazi Salawila, Cephas Chapamba, Beverly Kubik and Wordsworth Rashid. I am not a board member, but was present for the entire meeting which last four hours. We had a lengthy agenda is analyzing our outcomes, our problems and plans for continuing what we are doing. We have been overall happy with many things, but are concerned that we are not fully fulfilling LifeNets mission to help people become self-sustaining. That we will have to take immediate strong action to reverse or it will just get worse.
A number of intersesting matters came up as we talked about such as the quality of schools we send our students to
In the evening we held the goat roast at the Festival venue. It was a lot of fun just to watch the people and enjoy seeing the children play and interact.
We had bad news at the Feast as one of the Festival attendees, Austin Msowoya's sister and niece were killed in a tragic bus accident in South Africa as they were returning to Malawi. About 30 people on the bus which collided with a semi-truck between Capetown and Johannesburg.
Austin was at the goat roast and we talked for a long time with him. He is a law professor in Blantyre at the University of Malawi. He studied law for a while in Ada, Ohio.
