So.... i got on another bus trip and this one went across the north for 2 weeks and to fit everything in that happened is near impossible so i'll break it down into a few days do afew blogs and tell you the best bits.... fingers crossed i'll get somewhere with it!

The trip started in typical green tortoise fashion... ie horrifically drunk in the ballroom before crashing out and realising two people in my dorm were on my bus.

I had a nice surprise because one of the peopl from my last trip was in town so the day before the trip we hung out in Vesuvios and caught up. It was nice to be in good old san fran once again.
Later in the day we headed down the the pick up point and the bus after some technical difficulties showed up after 2 hours of waiting, everyone got to know eachother though so that was really cool!!

And so the bus arrives and i feel at home as soon as we clamber on! A short drive before we miracle the bus for the first night drive. Feels good to be home!

So after our drive we woke up in Winnemucca in Nevada! Spectacular, we were by a lake and we made breakfast and after a dip in the lake and a cold shower we drove on and we stopped as we drove through a town where the locals had lined the streets, turned out to be a old car rally so we stopped in the town of wells and watched this trail of amazing classic and pimped up cars and had dinner in the parking lot of a town that had recently been hit by an earthquake so it was interesting.

After dinner and awaitng the end of the rally we drove out along the roads down a dirt track and began a hike through some nevada backlands to a hot spring. After about an hour, duck setting in, a wild bull and a deer oh and wading through cowshit, then a river that was knee deep we hit the pitch black and eventually found a pool of hot water. so everyone got into the water and laid the in the super hot water under the stars that were so incredible. So clear. We got some Constellations pointed out to us and then trecked back up the dirt track, avoiding the cowsit this time... god bless my maglite!!

One more encounter with the bull and we were on a night drive. I love the bus!

I woke up to the blazing red sun of the Idaho morning and the incredible black, brown and green landscape. Stunning. We had breakfast in the parking lot again, i tell you the looks that bus gets is amazing!!

We got ready and went into the craters of the moon park and day the morning exploring a landscape sculpted entirely by cooled lava. A massive plain cover in lava, after this we headed to the lava tubes which were these under ground caves which we scrambled down into and in and under and over and down these rock piles in the under ground of these caves. One was a particularly tight squeeze but we made it and discovered an underground cave coverd in ice. Truly awesome!!

That night we went to a campsite and after beer by the river and pesto pasta and lots of beer around the campfire and we camped outside. And my god if only i'd gone to bed earlier instead of when it was already cold! It was cool to sleep out there with the stars above and the sound of the river near by.

We woke up nice and early, mainly because the sun came up nice and bright and we had to get up to make our way down to salmon river where we were to spend the day white water rafting.

The rapids were cool only up to 3 so nothing crazy. There were some really good swimming spots so we floated in the river for a while and then stopped for lunch and a tour of a goldmine.

After this we hit some of the better rapids and had a good old time rocking over the white water. I absolutely love rafting it's so much fun!! The moutains around the river were stunning and the sun was out so the day really was perfect! After this it was back to the campground for dinner. Hanging out by the river and back to the bus for another drive through the night!
